Making the Global Open Research Commons Truly Global

21 - 25 July 2025

Venue: Lorentz Center@lambda

If you are invited or already registered for this workshop, you have received login details by email.

This workshop is being organised by the Global Open Research Commons Interest and Working Groups. These groups, working through the Research Data Alliance, have already done significant work. By defining an agreed set of essential elements for a Research Commons, the GORC IG has provided a common language  to be used when discussing the design of new commons or considering how to connect commons together or nodes within a commons. By specifying a set of attributes and elements that commons might implement, and characterising a range of existing commons, the IM WG has provided a detailed model to assist concrete implementation.  The aim of this workshop is to expand the discussion outside the current implementers and the Research Data Alliance. Specifically, we want to learn from potential adopters what is needed to support their use of the current version of our outputs, and from potential service providers what is needed in future versions to address identified deficiencies.
