This workshop brings together scientists from various fields to report on recent advancements in nature-inspired sampling and optimization, and to outline future projects and possible advances in the field. In highly interactive sessions we learn about latest research in the communities and identify core features of successful purpose-driven schemes. We will discuss novel approaches leading to provable convergence theorems for current metaheuristics in optimization and sampling. Moreover, we want to do the groundwork for a unified software package that incorporates existing codes.
