Non-Fermi Liquid Behavior and Quantum Phase Transitions

12 - 23 May 2003

Venue: Lorentz Center@Oort

If you are invited or already registered for this workshop, you have received login details by email.

The workshop addresses the mechanisms for non-Fermi liquid behavior in strongly correlated electron systems, with an emphasis on the extent to which the notion of quantum criticality plays a role. The materials to be covered in this context will include heavy fermion metals, as well as high Tc cuprates and other transition metal compounds. The theoretical issues raised by the experimental results will be extensively discussed.

Following the tradition of the Lorentz Center, the workshop will provide ample time for informal discussions. Each participant will have a desk and access to a computer. We plan to have one or at most two talks each day that will serve to keep a focus during the two weeks, and to help catalyze and inspire the informal discussions. The program will be developed after a tentative list of participants becomes available.
