The Internet was neither designed to support 21st century applications nor was it envisioned to become a fundamental fabric of our societies. The mismatch between current network protocols and network architectures and both their use and expectations creates ever increasing performance, security and privacy problems felt both at the technical level as well as at the societal level. The workshop brings together experts in the areas of computer networking, security and privacy, economics and sociology of the Internet as well as human-computer interactions, to discuss topics such as transparency of network usage, security and stability of components for future architectures, usability of future internet architectures, and economical and social incentives in current and new architectures. The goal of the workshop is to determine which components would be needed in future Internet architectures by bringing together the diverse expertise of the participants. The proposed models would address the current splits and create a coherent system that takes into account the different perspectives, i.e. technical as well as social aspects.
