Aim and Description

The present conference brings together researchers that specialize in the study of migrations from different, yet interrelated perspectives: geneticists, archaeologists, physical anthropologists, demographers, and historians.

The specific goal of the workshop is to allow all these researchers to engage in systematic conversations in such a way as to address our central question, namely: How can new discoveries in the sciences be integrated into the study of migration and diaspora in the past, and how can historical models be used to benefit and inform the conclusions arising out of the insights and conclusions produced by the sciences? What are the best practices here, how do these impinge on our understanding of historical migration and human demography, and how should these, in turn, inform future integrated research and teaching in this area?
