Creative cognition, in short, the generation of ideas which are both novel and useful, has been identified by organisations such as the World Economic Forum as a key skill to address the challenges of the next few years. Therefore, there is a great need for research into the underlying processes which are necessary to scaffold creative thinking.

The primary aim of this workshop is to bring together key European researchers in the field of creative cognition to (a) agree on a set of definitional questions across the four themes outlined above (b) generate networks to facilitate paradigm sharing and multi-lab collaboration which will answer those questions. The programme is designed to meet the key challenge of fostering trust and building the foundations for a collaborative network. It is designed around the premise that problem construction is a key stage in the development of creative solutions and that collaboration can lead to more robust scientific progress on the key topics of interest.
