State-of-the-art AI will significantly change the way humans and machines interact and gives rise to a new interaction paradigm based on voice and other modalities. This interaction paradigm essentially makes machines more social, as they use modalities for social interaction that are most familiar to us.
In the workshop we aim to identify if, and how, a social loop for human-machine interaction differs from the human-human version and which aspects are key to guarantee the high quality of the social interactions that social machines engage in. We aim to address these questions by discussing the current state-of-the-art in Social AI and the steps that are needed to build on current AI techniques to realize social machines that meet user expectations in the wild.
