ABSTRACT: Simple as it may seem, comprehending what we read is a complex activity that involves many cognitive processes and knowledge structures. Understanding the cognitive processes involved in reading is important for theoretical and practical reasons. In this presentation, Dr. van den Broek will highlight recent empirical findings about these processes and describe some of the methods used, including the use of computational models and neuro-imaging data.
